behind the stomach. It produces digestive enzymes and hormones. It\u2019s most important hormone is Insulin, which controls blood sugar levels.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-av_toggle-6303508336cfac7d00a8b430afc15168'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-2' class='toggler   '  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-2'>What is a pancreatic cyst?<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-2' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color '  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>A pancreatic cyst is a sac-like fluid pocket, on or within the pancreas. They may be present at birth or develop in the course of life, for example after a trauma or inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). 2.4% of the healthy population has a pancreatic cyst, the prevalence increases with age. Only a small number of these cysts have the potential to progress to pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-av_toggle-6f856a2f115c614bf6dddaf9da940d79'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-3' class='toggler   '  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-3'>What symptoms does a pancreatic cyst cause?<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-3' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color '  itemprop=\"text\" ><p style=\"color: #000000;\">Small cysts rarely cause any symptoms and are usually detected by coincidence. Large cysts may exert pressure on surrounding organs. In that case, abdominal pain is the most common symptom. Some patients present with jaundice (yellow-colored skin and eyes). Also, the pancreas may start to malfunction, leading to diabetes and\/or steatorrhoea (fatty stool). Weight loss can also occur.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-av_toggle-bb84b83a4585359c32fa4cd227ef6290'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p data-fake-id='#toggle-id-4' class='toggler   '  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-4'>How is a pancreatic cyst diagnosed?<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-4' class='toggle_wrap  '  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color '  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Most pancreatic cysts are detected by coincidence, when an imaging study is performed for another reason. To further investigate a cyst, detailed imaging is necessary (either by MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or CT (Computed Tomography) scan. In addition, an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) may be performed. This investigation may include tissue (biopsy) or cyst (fluid) sampling. Also, determination of certain blood markers may help obtain a definite diagnosis.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section
